Why try and do this alone? You didn't start treating patients after two days of PT School.  A two day weekend course is a great for learning some skills but far from answering all your questions for preparing you to answer questions from patients.

After training my own Physical Therapists to treat Pelvic Floor issues and reading so many questions online from therapists just starting out with Pelvic Floor therapy, I found that there is a better way to start the rest of your career.  I hear all the time from friends trying to start a pelvic floor program at their offices that it flopped or their PT that is new to pelvic floor treatment is overwhelmed and wants to give it up or outright quit.  More often than not a PT shows some interest in  Women's Health or Pelvic Floor Therapy and your boss says "That's amazing! We want to add that to our list of services.", not understanding what that means. 

So off you go taking a two day introduction course or just researching it on your own.  You come back from your weekend course feeling energized ready to change the world, only to find that your office now expects you run the entire program and see every patient that presents with all different sorts of diagnoses. You are quickly overwhelmed and wondering what you got yourself into.  You are left to your own devices, scouring the internet and asking people for help trying to take what you learned in your weekend course and make it work in the real world with real patients that don't fit into a clear neat diagnoses that you were told they would present with. 

Does this sound familiar?  That's pretty much how my journey with pelvic floor started.

Don't get me wrong being a Pelvic Floor Specialist has been one of the most amazing parts of my career.  But it sure would have been a lot smoother if I had someone in my corner helping me along.  And I don't mean random people in a local social group that may or may not answer when you have questions.  I mean someone that knows you, understands where you are at, is going to take the time needed to transition those hard skills you learned into the soft skills that you need in the treatment room.  How to communicate with patients, how to create a path for treatment based upon the single most important part of the process and how to just manage yourself as you begin to see patients that push the limits of your skill set.

I've hired and trained quite a few Therapists in my days as my own outpatient clinic has grown and I learned that I needed a systematic yet flexible program to help them to grow into some of the best pelvic floor therapists and gain notoriety in our area as THE place to go to for anything pelvic floor related.

Then colleagues started asking for the secret sauce as they put together pelvic floor programs in their own clinics.  It's amazing how engaged and enthusiastic Therapists both right out of school and even those with years of experience are when I started working with them.  I was so thrilled that I decided to open up my program to everyone.  This is a live mentorship program with two way communication where not only do we work the hard skills needed for treatment but the soft skills that engage with patients and get them to stay in treatment and start living their lives to the fullest.
